Italian Dogs #4

It is that time again for another installment in the Canine series.  These images will take you from the mid point of our stay in Sicily on up to the present time in Montepulciano.  The pooches are a mix of well tended town dogs, a few strays roaming the Greek ruins, to farm dogs along the road in the country.  I love the facial expressions caught in so many of them.  There is little doubt connecting to their thoughts and emotions.  Click the reply button and let me know which is your favorite.

Ciao, Michael

Stuck on a balcony in Cefalu watching the world go past.

My place. My rules. Pretty simple.

I love Mr Casual just hanging out and looking like he doesn’t have a problem in the world.

This old warrior hung out with me for a while at the ruins in southern Sicily. I am not certain who lost the hat he found but they probably don’t want it back now.

Who? What? Me??? Gotcha!

Let me ouuuuuut of heeeeere! Please? No fair.

A dog sled Husky in Sicily?? Really? You’re kidding me.

I am SO ready for some serious fetch! Pant! Pant! Pant!

Waaaaait! Don’t leave me.

Relaxing in Matera.

The coloring is a perfect match for the town. Must be one of those designer dogs.

I hope my head fits back out of this hole in the railing.

No barking necessary. The look says it all.

Ears, correct. Eyes, BIG and bulgy. Hair, smoooooth. Leg, raised. OK take the photo.

Not a problem. We will take the next narrow passage.

Talk about a high strung dog. Yikes

That high strung dog wishes she were as cute as me.

Pretty much four feet off the ground.

What??? My job is to hold down this corner of the netting.

Chasing the chestnut. My favorite game. Only get to play it in the fall though.

    • Nash,
There is definitely a dog in these posts that we can all relate to in some way. They are just so much fun to shoot because they are all just grab shots as you come upon the dog or as they are walking past. Not a lot of time to plan, just sort of reflex.
Unlike a fair amount of all the other photos, where I will stand and look, and like some fundamentalist christian I ask myself “What would Nash do??” Thanks for being such an influence to me and a wonderful friend.

  1. Can’t have just one favorite…
Here are my 2 : Second from top “My place, my rule…” Fabulous, grand portrait.
The other one is “Waaaait, don’t leave me”… the sadness breaks your heart, and the little purple flowers win me over!

    • Raphaele,
Thanks for voting. The sad dog is the same guy as the one with the tennis ball just on a different day. The dog, ball, and owner we caught during the afternoon in Taoromina and the poor guy was left at home on the balcony during the dinner hour. Their expressions are opposite ends of the pendulum.

  2. Michael, they’re all great! So hard to pick one but my favorites are the golden retriever shots-what a nice looking, handsome dog. Like the chihuahua a lot, too.
